Responsiblities
and Major Duties of
The
Dean of Professional and Graduate Studies
A. Provides leadership and oversight of academic programs and curricular issues.
- Assures that program goals are consistent with the mission of UW-Green Bay and the goals and vision of the Professional Programs.
- Insures that professional programs meet accreditation or other professional association standards.
- Insures that curriculum and resources are aligned in each unit.
- Oversees the development of assessment plans and program reviews.
B. Provides leadership and oversight of the NEW Partnership and the Institute for Learning Partnership.
- Assures that program goals are consistent with the mission of UW-Green Bay.
- Promotes and facilitates relationships with external constituencies.
- Insures fiscal solvency and encourages financial self-sufficiency.
C. Has responsibility for appointments, renewals, tenure, promotion, sabbaticals and salary.
- Oversees recruitment of personnel.
- Articulates personnel processes to unit chairs, including those for reappointment, tenure, promotion and merit reviews, and insures that the processes are followed.
- Provides leadership to unit chairs to integrate personnel decisions and program evaluation.
D. Allocates personnel, funds and other resources for programs.
- Works with unit chairs and directors to determine resource needs for programs.
- Reallocates resources within Professional and Graduate Studies to enable programs to meet their curricular needs.
E. Provides leadership in budget development for the units and programs.
- Allocates budgets to units and programs
- Oversees budget development and expenditures of units.
F. Promotes external funding
- Works with Business program to develop fund raising strategies and goals.
G. Promotes academic program review and faculty development.
- Works with unit chairs to accomplish program review in a timely manner.
- Works with unit chairs to determine development needs.
- Encourages units to be creative and flexible in their approaches to faculty development and workload.
H. Promotes multi-cultural diversity and affirmative action.
- Works with unit chairs to insure that hiring practices promote a diverse faculty.
- Promotes curriculum development that represents diversity.
- Encourages recruitment of diverse students into professional and graduate programs.
