"Presenting a Seminar in the Centre for Urban and Regional Development, University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK"

Grant in Aid of Research

Final Report: "I was invited to be a visitor in the Center for Urban and Regional Development Studies (CURDS) at Newcastle University from November 23 to December 2nd, 2012. During my stay I gave a seminar on urban regeneration in inner city neighborhoods in Green Bay. The seminar was well attended and was a part of a larger discussion on urban regeneration efforts in the UK and in other European contexts. The experience of Green Bay, added to the discussion. New contacts were done with the potential of new projects and research collaboration in the future. This kind of activity positions UW Green Bay with innovative and current discourse in this field. I also attended and participated in the postgraduate student workshop organized by the Economic Geography Research Group of the Royal Geographical Society and the Institute of British Geographers. This was perhaps the most enjoyable time at the Center for me personally. I was able to listen to and exchange ideas with doctoral students in the field and to continue a discussion here in Green Bay with doctoral students on issues that impact our communities. The potential of bringing in these young scholars to our program will only enrich our programs here at UW Green Bay.The Funds used helped to support me with daily transportation and meal costs during my stay in the UK. The visit to CURDS at Newcastle University would not have been possible without the funding that I received from the Research Council, of which I am very appreciative."
