Residence Life has installed a comprehensive, state of the art, 802.11 b/g/n wireless network throughout student housing. As a result, students will not need, or be allowed to use, their own wireless routers.
The new network provides secure encrypted communications and authenticated access. The wireless network will enable students to roam from one Residence Life building to another and be able to connect in any building. The same wireless network will also be implemented for all campus buildings during the 2011/2012 school year.
Additional information is posted to the ResNet website and will be distributed via email in early August, 2011 for incoming residents.
The current wired network will continue to exist in each Residence Life building for any student devices that need a wired connection. (i.e. desktops, gaming consoles, internet enabled TVs)
