Insurance coverage

  • State self-funded property program for damages to fleet vehicle
  • State self-funded liability program for damages to third party when employee/agent is in scope of employment and negligent
  • Worker Compensation program for state employees injured while in scope of employment
  • Employee may be personally responsible if unauthorized driver or is out of scope of employment

Limitations

  • No personal use of fleet vehicle allowed
  • Family members are not allowed in state vehicles
  • State vehicles may not be taken home without reimbursement of personal mileage (some limited exceptions)

Insurance coverage

  • When using State contract vendors, collision (damage to rental vehicle) and liability (damages to third party) coverage is included in rental fee and handled by rental agency.
  • When using non-contract vendor, collision and liability coverage must be purchased.
  • Worker Compensation program for state employees injured while in scope of employment.
  • Employee may be personally responsible if unauthorized driver or is out of scope of employment

Limitations

  • No personal use of rental vehicle allowed
  • Rental vehicle may not be used if a fleet vehicle is available
  • Family members are not allowed in vehicles rented on the State contract
  • Must be >21 years of age
    Additional requirements in place for drivers <25 yrs. of age

 

Personal Vehicle

No restrictions

Insurance coverage

  • Employee responsible for repairs for any personal vehicle damage.
  • Employee must maintain personal automobile liability coverage. Personal automobile liability coverage is the primary coverage. State liability covers excess if employee is negligent and in scope of employment at time of incident. The State recommends a minimum 100/300/50
  • Worker Compensation program for state employees injured while in scope of employment

 

*Authorized Drivers:

All people driving on State business must go through the UWGB driver authorization process which includes completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement. An authorized driver must have a valid driver’s license, be at least 18 years of age and have a minimum of two years driving experience. Approval will not be given if  driver has 3 or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in past two years or an OWI or DUI within last 12 months or a suspended or revoked license. Driving record will be checked on an monthly basis.
