III. Search and Screen Update
Craig Lockard provided an update on the search for Mark Everingham’s one
year replacement. Lockard believed that there were several good candidates in
the pool.
IV. Program Review
Lynn Walter led a discussion about the recent program review which focused on
two issues: 1) whether and how to assess the emphases within the SCD major and
2) whether SCD should archive student portfolios. Although several good ideas
and comments were made, no resolutions were immediately found. The group did
praise Lynn Walter for the masterful job she did in preparing the program
review.
V. Sexual Harassment Awareness Training.
Walter explained that there would be a new round of sexual harassment awareness
training. Dates and times will be forthcoming. Everyone is expected to attend
these sessions.
VI. Course Waiting Lists.
Walter provided information about the new course waiting list system which will
be instituted sometime in the near future. Soon students will be able to use
the PeopleSoft system to not only register for courses but also to sign up on a
waiting list for courses.
VII. New Business.
Larry Smith described his Door
County project which aims
to support wise choices for land use and land development. He asked that SCD
faculty support his program which they did.
Lynn Walter brought to the attention of the SCD faculty a student request to
create a problem solving course that would address solutions to the problems
often discussed in SCD and related courses. Austin commented that such problem solving
skills are already embedding within most (if not all) SCD courses. The group
did discuss creating more internship possibilities with NGOs.
Respectfully submitted,
Andrew E. Kersten
