I have created several compressed files containing all of the project demos we will discuss during the semester. Some files were created using a combination of the Linux tar and gzip utilities. You'll recognize them by the file name extension of .tar.gz. Others are windows zip files. Zipped files can be downloaded into your windows accounts as you've probably done in previous courses. Unzip them as you've done in the past.

Those with the .tar.gz file name extension should be downloaded into your Linux account. You can do this as follows:

• Log into Linux using the instructions at http://icsa.uwgb.edu/~songh/blog/?p=191
• Start Firefox by selecting Applications -> Internet -> Firefox Web Browser and access this web page.
• Download the relevant files (below) into your Linux account.
• You must first uncompress the file (using gunzip) and then untar the resulting file as described in the class handout provided above.

Here are some tarred and compressed, or zipped files to download (files to be made available as the semester progresses).

• demos to show process creation and waiting.
• demos to show signal sending and catching. NOTE: the exec commands all contain a directory specification that represent my structure. You'll need to locate each exec command (you can use grep for this) and change it to reflect your directory structure.
• shared memory segments and working set issues.
• a multiprocess program and a multithreaded program. Note the difference when you run.
• a zipped file containing numerous java multithreaded projects.
• demos for Linux semaphores and message queues.
• a couple of C programs to support the material on auxiliary storage.
