Sheboygan University Theatre on Stage

The mission of University Theatre is to bring thought-provoking plays that challenge all participants to see and engage with the world around us.  As an academic institution engaged in the arts, we feel we have an obligation to bring plays to the stage that challenge us and make everyone – on stage and off – think about who they are, where they come from, and their role in the world.  We stage a minimum of two fully realized theatrical productions per academic year.  Supported by students and community members, we welcome anyone to audition for our shows as well as help with the many backstage opportunities.

If you would like to learn more or to volunteer your time, please contact Dr. Thomas Campbell, director of University Theatre and Assistant Professor of Communication & Theatre Arts.

From one of the most respected playwrights in modern times, this dramatic comedy has become a classic about female identity in a patriarchal world. The story focuses on Marlene, a recently promoted director of a London employment agency. In the opening act, she holds a symbolic luncheon with women of legend throughout history. The next acts time-warps to the present where the women from the lunch become Marlene’s co-workers, clients, and relatives, who all explore Marlene’s abandonment of her female identity in favor of odious male traits so she can “get ahead in man’s world.
