Sheepshead Review Contests

Rising Phoenix        Where's Bo?

Have You Seen Bo?

Bo is Sheepshead Review’s fluffy mascot.  This semester, Bo is touring campus and will be popping up in many places.  He is photo-documenting his visits and wants you to guess where he is.  The people who submit the most correct places by the end of the semester will be put into a drawing for a prize.

Rules:

·         Each guess (other than the orgsmorg debut guess) must be emailed to sheepsheadreview@uwgb.edu with a note in the SUBJECT line indicating “WHERE’S BO?”  by SATURDAY at midnight the week the photo was posted.  Photos will be posted at the Sheepshead's Facebook page by Tuesday at noon. No late entries will be accepted.

·         Entries must include the specific location* of Bo along with your name.  Also, your campus email address must be included if you are submitting from an email address other than your campus address.

*Specific location means: if Bo is located in an elevator, need the specific location of that elevator – for example, the blue elevator in Theater Hall.   If Bo is located in a private study room in the library, stating that he is in the private study room is enough, we do not have to know which one.   The picture should have enough hints within it to allow you to make a pretty specific locale.  Entries should not simply state “In Theater Hall”.  It should state something like: “on the couches on third floor of Theater Hall.”  Some leeway will be allowed, but very general answers will be considered incorrect.

·         Contest only open to currently registered students and faculty of UWGB. Contest is not open to members of Sheepshead Review

·         At the end of the semester, we will post a listing of all the correct locations at the Facebook page.  Each week, we will post the correct location of the previous week’s photo along with the new picture.

·         Those people submitting the most correct answers will be entered into a drawing for a prize at the end of the semester.  The prize winner will be announced between December 10 and December 13.

Rising Phoenix Contest

What is it?

The Rising Phoenix contest was established in spring 2003 with the re-launch of the journal and has continued to be offered every spring. It spotlights the best visual arts, fiction, nonfiction and poetry works of the UW-Green Bay community.

Judges

Judges are selected from the Wisconsin arts communities recommended by UW-Green Bay faculty, staff and students. Our judges have extraordinary credentials in the field of arts, graphics or writing and their astute comments help drive Sheepshead Review’s mission by helping students recognize their talent while encouraging them to pursue quality creative expression.

Winners

The selected winner of the visual arts Rising Phoenix contest showcases his/her chosen work on the cover, as well as a spread of at least two pages of his/her other art/profile pieces in the journal. The chosen fiction, nonfiction, and poetry are featured throughout the journal. All winners’ pieces are paired with esteemed comments from the judges, published alongside the piece.

How to Enter

-Eligibility: All UW-Green Bay students are eligible for the Rising Phoenix contest and all submissions for the spring issues are automatically entered into the Rising Phoenix contest.
