SOCIOLOGY HOMEPAGE

SOCIOLOGY MAJOR

At this time, UW-Green Bay does not offer a major in sociology.  We encourage students with an interest in the sociological imagination, as C. Wright Mills described it, to explore the interdisciplinary majors in the social sciences.  A major in one of these programs, combined with a minor in sociology, should provide excellent background for employment in those fields usually sought by sociology graduates, as should also provide excellent preparation for graduate work in sociology at the M.A. and Ph.D. level.

Students with special interests in the study of ethnic groups, globalization, race and ethnic relations, and urban sociology will be interested in looking at the program in Global Studies and the major in Urban and Regional Studies.

Students with special interests in the sociology of family, gender and gender roles will be interested in looking at the major in Human Development and the program in Women's Studies.

Students interested in criminal justice, social stratification and social theory will be interested in looking further at the major in Social Change and Development.
