Dr. Martin joined the faculty in the fall, 1999. Because her specialty is in child welfare, she teaches classes in this area as well as in the methods/field sequence.
Dr. Martin comes to UW-Green Bay from the University of Pittsburgh, where
she taught for 22 years. She began her career in social work as a
child welfare worker and then worked in a residential treatment center for
emotionally disturbed children. She has consulted with, taught and
trained many child welfare workers in a variety of settings over
the years - those providing group and family treatment, those working with
families in their homes and with children in foster families are as well
as children who have been adopted. She has also examined the role
of gender and diversity in child welfare.
She has served on numerous boards of community agencies, including on the
boards of a child care center, an agency serving children and families affected
by HIV/AIDS Disease, and an agency doing intervention work with men who
batter their partners.
