Graphic Design Studio I introduces the basic principles and potentials of visual communication through studio practice and weekly readings and discussion of the required text. In addition this studio provides a foundation in the use of digital graphic communication design software. Basic traditional and digital design strategies are applied to introductory graphic design problems. Content includes a series of exercises and design problems that develop skills and confidence in software usage and an introduction to the practice of graphic communication. A three credit studio course, Studio I includes basic principles of graphic design with an emphasis on the design process, which is integral to the production of graphic design for communication.
