University Governance
About Us
MAC Hall spring flowers
The University Governance Committee shall have primary legislative responsibility for tracking campus, local, state, and federal decisions and legislation that affect higher education and taking any action deemed necessary on these decisions, as stated in the UWGB SGA Constitution.

The University Governance Committee looks at itself as the chief information source and link between students and the legislation that affects them.

In addition, this committee holds itself responsible to inform the students and also give them an opportunity to be heard by legislators on campus, locally, and state-wide.

It is the University Governance Committee's goal to maintain a strict connection with legislators that makes them feel accountable to this specific University and to have UWGB in mind when making decisions that may affect, not only this campus, but the entire UW system.

Committee Report

The University Governance Committee meets every Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 – 3:00 pm in the SGA Office Suites.

So far our business has revolved around the upcoming Presidential Election that is taking place on Tuesday, November 4, 2008. Committee members have been helping promote and advertise the election along with identifying goals for UWGB and the election. Members have also gone to City Hall to be deputized and have helped register voters.

Another item of business has been Local Candidate Forums and debates. The committee members have played an integral part in inviting local candidates to have a Q&A forum with their opponents. So far Lou Ann Weix(D) and Representative Karl Van Roy(R) participated in an open forum on October 6th, and now Representative Jim Soletski(D) along with his challenger Tony Theisen(R) will be here for an open forum on Friday, October 17, 2008 from Noon to 1:00pm.
