President's Volunteer Service Award

In 2003, the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation was created to find ways to recognize the valuable contributions volunteers are making in our nation.

This council established the President’s Volunteer and Service Award program as a way to thank and honor Americans who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service.

The President’s Volunteer and Service Award recognizes individuals, families, and groups who have achieved a certain standard measured by the number of hours served over a 12-month period or cumulative hours earned over the course of a lifetime.

 Levels of Recognition:

Bronze Level:

Adults: 100-249 hours

Groups: 200-499 hours

Silver Level:

Adults: 250-499 hours

Groups: 500-1,000 hours

Gold Level:

Adults: 500 hours or more

Groups: 1,000 hours or more

*Hours are based on a calendar year
