National History Day
National History Day is a creative means
for students to learn about history in a meaningful and fun way.
Students compete in a series of regional, state, and national
competitions by producing one of the following:
- Historical Documentaries
- Exhibits
- Dramatic Performances
- Research Papers

The State Competition is in Madison on April 29, 2006. The
National Competition is in Washington, D.C. June 11-15, 2006.

Services available include:
- Meeting with interested teachers
to describe the program, provide guidance on topics and
curriculum connections, and answer questions.
- Presentations in your classroom
about National History Day.
- Hosting research visits
by your class to the Green Bay Area Research Center at
the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay.
- Presentations regarding primary vs. secondary research.
- Identification of relevant primary sources
(a requirement for National History Day projects).
- Transfer of original source materials
from the Wisconsin Historical Society and other area
research centers to the Green Bay Area Research Center for student use.
