About the Council

Purpose

The Technology Council is advisory to the Provost and responsible for developing and monitoring the campus technology plan and recommending technology policies.

Membership

The Council is comprised of representatives from planning units, three faculty members serving staggered three year terms, and one representative of Student Government who is also chair of the Student Needs Advisory Committee (SNAC)

The Council is chaired by the Associate Provost of Information Services.

Goals for 2007/2008

  • Review lab utilization for all computer labs
  • Review General Access Lab Plans for 2006/07 to ensure equitable access for students
  • Review Information Security Policy
  • Review progress on IT 2007 Action Plan
  • Review recommendations from LITC  regarding interactive response systems (clickers)
  • Review ECAR Survey of Undergraduates Use of Technology
  • Discuss role of and support for enterprise information systems on campus
  • Monitor RIAA actions regarding copyright protection of music files

  • Reviewed progress on IT 2007 Action
  • Approved revised password policy to improve security and privacy of data
  • Reviewed and Approved Academic Computer Lab Plans for 2007/08
  • Revised Acceptable Use Policy for Students
  • Reviewed lab utilization for all computer labs
  • Sponsored Annual Technology Forum, May 3
  • Sponsored ECAR Undergraduate Survey of Computer Technology
