Value Statement and Goals

In pursuit of UWGB’s mission, we promote “excellence in…service to the community” through our “deep commitment to diversity, inclusion, social justice, civic engagement, and educational opportunity.” We embody the “core value” of ‘Community-based partnerships” and facilitate problem-focused service learning. We also enact the University of Wisconsin System commitment “to extend knowledge and its applications beyond the boundaries” of our institution. While we align our programming with the goals and strategic plan of the university, specifically our goals are as follows:

  • To support and promote faculty engagement with the community in scholarship and the classroom
  • To encourage students to take up responsible membership in their local communities through engaging in community-based learning.
  • To strengthen community partnerships through active participation and reciprocity
  • To support on-campus partnerships that promote civic engagement
  • To increase the visibility of the Center and civic engagement on campus and in the community
