Our Mission

The UW-Green Bay Theatre Discipline is devoted to the study, analysis and creation of live theatrical performance.  Our program provides a rigorous artistic and academic environment for the study and production of all theatrical forms.  The academic and production components are based on a scientific model, which emphasizes history, theory, concepts and skills in the lecture and studio classroom and experimentation through various laboratory applications.

Consistent with the interdisciplinary emphasis of the UW-Green Bay, the Theatre Program offers a broader, more integrated major than comparable Bachelor of Fine Arts or conservatory programs. Students gain conceptual knowledge and practical experience in the study of an array of theatre disciplines within the context of an interdisciplinary education, which broadens their basis of artistic understanding.

Theatrical production can only be achieved through the collaborative integration of elements (literature, performance, design, technology and engineering) in a problem-solving, cooperative endeavor.  It requires the achievement of excellence in communication skills and creative expression, preparing students to be culturally aware and engaged citizens.

The UW-Green Bay Theatre Discipline strives to facilitate campus and community partnerships and to serve the educational, cultural, and research needs of the Northeastern Wisconsin through outreach, consultation, and accessibility to quality live theatre.
