Thou Couldst Make A Lady Blush: Shakespeare & His Flowers
Presenter: Gale Childs-Daly - Guest Director at UWGB
Flowers have for centuries been so steeped with meaning that in Victorian times, they were often used by gentlemen to send cryptic messages to their lady loves. But long before our Victorian ancestors took up this secret language of flowers, William Shakespeare made abundant use of them in his works. So much so in fact, that during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Shakespeare Gardens were a popular garden theme. Shakespeare coach and guest director, Gale Childs-Daly will explore the language of flowers in Shakespeare.
This program is presented in partnership with UW-Green Bay's production Love's Labor's Lost --April 26-28 & May 2-4 and as part of the Underground Shakespeare Festival.
