Learning with LEGOs
Learning with LEGOs is a two-week residential program for middle school students interested in engineering, mechanics, math and science. Through journaling, report writing and interpretation of assembly instructions, students develop and strengthen written communication, critical reading and problem solving skills. Students applying for the Learning with Legos program should not only enjoy the process of building and creating with their hands, but also want to know the ‘whys’ behind how things work. As a participant, you will build various simple and complex machines using Legos while learning the math and physics behind them. You will document your discoveries through descriptive and process style writing, improving your communications skills. Learning with Legos helps enrich students’ interest in engineering and math fields through hands-on experiments and complimentary field trips. This program is available to students entering the 6th, 7th or 8th grade.
