'Health Care for All' is topic of
governor's forum at UW-Green Bay
Gov. Jim Doyle visited the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay campus Friday (May 4) for a public forum on the governor's "Health Care for All" agenda, a plan to make quality health care accessible to 98 percent of Wisconsin's residents. About 125 people attended the forum in the Phoenix Rooms of the University Union. The forum was the second in a series of meetings the governor is holding across the state to discuss his health-care agenda.
UW-Green Bay Chancellor Bruce Shepard speaks to the audience in the Phoenix Rooms prior to the governor's arrival. Seated in the center of the front row are, from left, state Rep. Jim Soletski, state Sen. (and UW-Green Bay alumnus) Dave Hansen, and UW System Regent Mary Cuene.
Gov. Doyle greets members of the audience upon his arrival on campus.
In introducing Gov. Doyle, Chancellor Shepard notes that the governor has been at UW-Green Bay so many times this year that the University may owe him a diploma.
The governor discussed some of the health-care items in his 2007-09 state budget proposal, including a statewide anti-smoking initiative.
About 125 people, including members of the news media, attended the health-care forum.
Gov. Doyle said he wants to make Wisconsin the nation's health-care leader.
