Wisconsin Public Television spotlights
UW-Green Bay literacy project

An early literacy research project designed by UW-Green Bay Education faculty drew statewide attention Friday (July 6) when Education Prof. Patricia Ragan appeared on Wisconsin Public Television's "Here and Now" public affairs program. Ragan discussed the results of an early intervention program to help at-risk pre-kindergarten children succeed after they enrolled at Green Bay's Fort Howard School. The project involved a partnership of UW-Green Bay faculty and students, Green Bay Area Public Schools and the Institute for Learning Partnership. These photographs provide a behind-the-scenes look at the interview.

Ragan said three-week sessions designed to build children's vocabulary, early reading skills and other literacy skills had a "very significant" impact on the children.
