UW-Green Bay, Nicolet College form new partnership for adult students

Leaders of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and Nicolet College in Rhinelander agreed to form a partnership that will make a bachelor’s degree more accessible to placebound students in northern Wisconsin. UW-Green Bay Chancellor Bruce Shepard and Nicolet College President Adrian Lorbetske signed the Northwoods Partnership agreement Tuesday, May 20 at a ceremony at Nicolet College. Work on the partnership began after UW-Green Bay Adult Degree student Julie Holt of Phelps wrote a letter to UW System President Kevin Reilly, asking for more educational opportunities in northern Wisconsin.

Robert Martini, president of the Nicolet College Board of Directors, said residents of northern Wisconsin need new opportunities to pursue a higher education without leaving the area.

UW-Green Bay Chancellor Bruce Shepard said universities and colleges must do more to meet the educational needs of students where they live.
