Workshop on bullying is scheduled at UW-Green Bay

GREEN BAY-Bullying in School, in the Community and at Home: Prevention and Practical Strategies, is the topic of a workshop for social workers, licensed professional counselors and school guidance counselors on Friday, March 14 at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Sessions will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Phoenix Rooms of University Union on the campus at 2420 Nicolet Dr.
Brian Koenig The presenter is Brian Koenig, president of K12 Associates, LLC of Madison. Koenig developed and implemented the Keep It Safe Project, a five-year pilot program to prevent bullying and other antisocial behaviors in three Wisconsin school districts. As a consultant with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, he has presented more than 40 workshops on bullying and harassment prevention. Koenig is co-author of a set of school climate surveys used by more than 100,000 students in 43 school districts nationwide.
The workshop will focus on the importance of school, home and community in preventing negative behaviors, strategies critical to improving social interactions of students, data on the prevalence of bullying and its effects, and prevention tools.

The program offers Continuing Education Units or Hours for social workers and licensed professional counselors. Pupil Service Standards apply for school guidance counselors.

Cost of the workshop is $99, which includes handouts, refreshments, lunch, CEH/CEU certificate, and parking. The workshop is sponsored by the Northeast Wisconsin Alliance for Social Worker Continuing Education, a partnership between UW-Green Bay and UW-Oshkosh Social Work and Outreach Departments.
