Small Business Development Center client wins Governor’s award in contestGREEN BAY — A client of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Small Business Development Center won a division in the Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest in mid June.
PeaPod Homes (www.peapodhomes.com/) won the Business Services division of the contest, which encourages and educates entrepreneurs on the creation, start-up and early-growth stages of high-tech, high-growth businesses in Wisconsin. More than 250 plans were submitted for the four categories in the contest.
PeaPod Homes, a design company that develops plans for energy-efficient housing, worked with the Small Business Development Center on the creation of its business plan.
SBDC Business Advisor Chuck Brys worked with the start-up company since April 2007, helping its owners understand strategic opportunities to market the business and bring it to fruition. Today, the company is commercially viable from its offices in the Door County Business Development Center in Sturgeon Bay.
“The SBDC provided great insight and assistance,” said Mark Rittle, a partner with PeaPod Homes. “It’s a fantastic resource for any new business.”
The UW-Green Bay Small Business Development Center is part of a statewide network that serves as a resource to businesses and entrepreneurs. The mission of the UW-Green Bay SBDC is to champion entrepreneurial growth in Northeastern Wisconsin. For more information visit http://www.uwgb.edu/sbdc/.
