For Immediate Release: The human body is subject of UW-Green Bay ceramics exhibit GREEN BAY-"Beyond Titillation: Ceramic Sculpture and the Body" is the title of an exhibit that opens with a reception at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 in the Lawton Gallery located in Room 230 of Theater Hall at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.Co-curators Stephen Perkins, UW-Green Bay curator of art, and Summer Zickefoose, now an adjunct instructor at the University of Southern Indiana and formerly at UW-Green Bay, chose 24 works by 15 contemporary artists from across the country. Whether the sculptures literally explore the body with references to muscles and organs, or whether they suggest domestic spaces in which humans find comfort or depict other body-related issues, "...a rich map emerges of how we use our bodies to transact and negotiate between our individual and private selves, and our place in the larger community of others," conclude the curators. The curators will speak about the work at 5 p.m. The exhibit continues through March 27 except for March 15 through 22 when the gallery will be closed for the University's spring break. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
