UW-Green Bay offers summer courses for educators

GREEN BAY-Educators seeking to enhance their professional development and licensure renewal opportunities can choose from more than 30 summer courses offered by the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Education Outreach Program.

Eight of the courses are new offerings. They include "Creating and Teaching in Outdoor Classrooms," "Tenacity and Confidence for Today's Teachers," "Culturally Responsive Teaching to Maximize Student Potential," "Empowerment for Disengaged Students," "Statistics and Probability: Content and Pedagogy," and "Number Operations and Relationships: Content and Pedagogy." Also new is "Big Splash," a course introducing aquatic resources and education programs, and "Reveal/Conceal: Process and Content in Encaustic Painting," an offering focusing on a painting technique that uses pigments with wax.

UW-Green Bay courses for educators are for graduate credit unless otherwise indicated in the listing. Some courses are offered with credit and noncredit options.

Enrollment in all classes is limited, so registration at least two weeks before the start of a course is recommended. Tenacity and Confidence for Today's Teachers (NEW), Green Bay, Monday and Tuesday, June 16-17. Graduate credit and noncredit options.

Astronomy in the Elementary School, Sturgeon Bay, Monday through Wednesday, June 16-18.

Exploring Hmong in Transitions: Enhancing Professional Best Practices, Green Bay, Graduate credit option meets Tuesday and Wednesday, June 17-18. Noncredit option meets June 17 only.

Empowerment for Disengaged Students (NEW), Green Bay, Wednesday and Thursday, June 18-19. Graduate credit and noncredit options.

Book Club...en español, ¿por qué no? AP Female Authors, Green Bay, Wednesday, June 18; Tuesday, July 1; Fridays, Aug. 1 and 8. Graduate credit and noncredit options.

Classroom Instruction That Works, Sheboygan, Monday through Thursday, June 23-26.

Summer Instructional Technology Academy, Howard-Suamico School District, Friday, Aug. 1 and Monday through Friday, Aug. 4-8. Two and three-credit participants also attend on Monday, Aug. 11. Options for one, two or three graduate credits, one undergraduate credit, and noncredit.

Differentiated Instruction, Sheboygan, Monday through Thursday, Aug. 4-7.

Reveal/Conceal: Process and Content in Encaustic Painting (NEW), UW-Green Bay, Monday through Friday, Aug. 4-8. Graduate, undergraduate, and noncredit options.

Basic Active Learning Strategies, Green Bay, Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 6-7 and Monday, Oct. 13. Noncredit students attend August 6-7 only. Graduate, undergraduate, and noncredit options.
