Marcia (Peterson) Santaga, '85 and '87
Senior Research Manager, New Products,
S.C. Johnson & Son
Family: Husband Jeff, son Jordan (18) and
daughters Alexandria (17) and Alicia (16)
Marcia Santaga a player at S.C. Johnson
Since 1993, former Phoenix basketball standout
Marcia (Peterson) Santaga has been scoring points
with her company, S.C. Johnson, working on brand
development and new business ventures including
well-known household products such as Raid, OFF,
Glade, Windex, Scrubbing Bubbles, Edge and others.
For the past three years,
Santaga has taken on the role of senior research
manager, working with a team of senior professionals
to research new products. Her team is responsible
for launching products with a minimum of $50 to
$100 million in first-year sales potential. The
global company she works for employs 12,000 people
in more than 70 countries around the world with
headquarters in Racine, Wis.
“We are consistently
in the Forbes ‘Top Places to Work’
and Working Mothers’ ‘Top Places for
Women,’” she said. “I have to
say, it is all true.
I love working here.”
After graduating in 1987,
she worked for former faculty member Jim Murray
at JMA & Associates, then on to ShopKo as an
analyst, followed by Fort Howard as a research
manager before joining S.C. Johnson.
“I’ve always felt
that my education at UW-Green Bay prepared me very
well for the working world, especially the Market
Research and Statistics class as an undergraduate,
and a marketing research internship at Schneider
National,” she recalls. “Dan Alesch
was invaluable in planning classes and my major
professor for graduate studies. Tim Sewall was
also a favorite.”
Welcome to the family:
“I met my husband (Jeff Santaga, brother
to Greg and Scott Santaga) at the annual women’s
basketball summer softball tournament at Circle
Tap. I spent a little time at the big slide (Bay
Beach) in back of Marcy’s By the Bay in March.
Working Friday and Saturday nights at the Phoenix
Sports Center, with people like Les Cseter ’83
and others, was unbelievably fun.”
