UWGB artists' best work on display

University of Wisconsin-Green Bay art students are used to showing off their work on campus.

But the audience is expanding for several majors whose works are on display at a marketing agency in Allouez.

Their creations are a part of The Goltz Seering Agency's Creative Coffee Series, a rotating exhibit in the agency's offices.

A partnership between the UWGB Art Agency and Goltz Seering, the Creative Coffee Series provides a platform for emerging artists to have their work displayed and juried.

Judges selected 20 pieces of art for the winter exhibit, which will be displayed at the agency and at local businesses.

"I'm excited that there's an opportunity like this for art students," said Mindy Meyers, a senior whose oil painting and string art piece is on display at the marketing agency. "It's good to know that something that you put so much into creating can be appreciated by other people."

Goltz Seering bought several of the art pieces, which will be on permanent display at the agency. Among them: a sculpture made of pennies, steel wire and rods, and nylon and webbing. The piece is by Casey Early-Krueger, a senior and art major. Early-Krueger and another student, Chong Chin, each received an award for the best artwork as chosen by officials at the marketing agency.

"Having your art seen by a different group of people outside of an art show gives your work a different type of audience," Early-Krueger said. "People who see it hanging there (in the agency) may see and appreciate it in a different way. It's definitely a confidence booster."

Other students with works on display are Paula Becker, Ashley Bavery, Melissa Gale, Lexie Hassinger, Molly Le Greve Kayala, Jodi Lieburn, Leah Lindsley, Lisa Olson, Marian Puckett, Jo Watson and Amy Williams.
