Saturday concert features retiring pianist Cohrs, 'Rhapsody in Blue'
Pianist Arthur Cohrs will be featured soloist at a concert by the UW-Green Bay Wind Ensemble, the Symphonic Band, and a High School Honors Band at 7:30 p.m. Saturday (April 15) at the Weidner Center. Cohrs, who is well-known through a career of more than 30 years as a performer, teacher, and lecturer, will retire from teaching at UW-Green Bay at the end of the academic year. He will perform George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" with the Wind Ensemble, directed by Kevin Collins. More.

Prof. Andrew Fiala, HS, recently presented a paper titled "The Risks of Education: Dewey and the Kansas School Board" at the 27th annual meeting of the Society for the Advancement of American Philosophy. The conference was held at Indiana University and Purdue University Indianapolis in early March. Fiala will present his paper "The Dialectic of Tolerance: Tolerant Dissent in the Aftermath of the Southworth Case" at a conference on "The Culture of Tolerance" held by the UK Association for Legal and Social Philosophy. This conference will be held at the University of Exeter in Exeter, England on April 6-8, 2000. The London School of Economics, United Kingdom, has invited Prof. Ismail Shariff, URS, to present a paper entitled "Will Emerging Globalization Stimulate Growth in Developing Countries in the New Millennium?" at its Eleventh Annual Conference of the Congress of Political Economists International.
