8 percent tuition hike Reminder: Lab Sciences festivities Lab Sciences project details Lenfestey program a success |
Vol. 33, No. 65 / July 8, 2002The LOG Online e-mail news digest is distributed each week to faculty and staff of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Links are included to more detailed stories at the Marketing and University Communication Web site and to an archive of past issues.
UW System agrees on 8 percent tuition hikeResident undergraduate tuition will increase $112 per semester at most of the 11 UW System four-year comprehensive universities under a plan approved by the UW Board of Regents on Monday (July 8). UW System officials note that this year's average tuition increases are far lower than increases at comparable public institutions. (Ohio State, Michigan State and Minnesota are among those with hefty, double-digit increases to make up for cuts in state spending.) UW System President Katharine Lyall says none of the funding generated by this tuition increase will offset the across-the-board state funding cuts to the UW System budget. Reminder: Lab Sciences festivities are Tuesday morningThe forecast calls for decent weather and good company Tuesday morning (July 9) for ceremonies marking groundbreaking on the $18 million expansion and remodeling of the Laboratory Sciences Building. An informal reception is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. in the Environmental Sciences second-floor lobby, with groundbreaking at 10 a.m. at the northwest corner of Lab Sciences. All members of the campus community are invited to attend.
