Don't bet against Chancellors' 'Wrecking Crew'

Here's a reminder that Inauguration Week kicks off in the Nicolet Room today (Monday, Sept. 16) with fun, history and, we're guessing, a bit of good-natured teasing in the Phoenix Phacts Challenge. (At least there should be some teasing if the Bruce Shepard/Ed Weidner juggernaut ever misses a question. Talk about stacking the sides! Did George Steinbrenner make up these teams? Although, to be fair, Jerry "The Mace" Rodesch has a powerful club, too.) The first question is set for 12:30 p.m. The four teams are:

The Wrecking Crew
Bruce Shepard
Ed Weidner
Donna Ritch
Jen Keene
Dave Kieper

The Flaming Fighting Tomatoes
Kathy Pletcher
Mike Morgan
Aaron Dubinski
Sue Bodilly

The T.E.R.M.inators
Tom Maki
Marilyn Sagrillo
Erika Bahnson
Rick Warpinski

Jerry "The Mace" Rodesch & The Medallions
Sue Keihn
Jerry Rodesch
Nick Kohn
Lucy Arendt

Tuesday is community-service day; look for a new garage outside MACH

UW-Green Bay students will reach out to the community during the University's "Creating Our Future Together" celebration. Special activities take place all week, but Tuesday will be a busy day. A Habitat for Humanity garage build occurs throughout the day at the main entrance to Mary Ann Cofrin Hall. (The components will be stored for a special "youth build" next spring.) In other events, volunteers interested in sprucing up the Cofrin Arboretum will meet at 3 p.m. at the Biodiversity office. Also, students are invited to extend greeting-card messages to ManorCare residents; four card-making "stations will be set up in the Student Services Building. There's more. Inaugural Week: We embrace community

It is said that an Inauguration is more about the University than a single individual. Prof. David Littig says community members who visit the campus during Inauguration Week will discover a rich array of courses, academic programs and activities. "The University is open and embraces the community," he said. "We will be very proud to have you come and visit us." The news release describing the week is at http://www.uwgb.edu/univcomm/news/archive/2002sep.htm#week. The calendar of events is at http://www.uwgb.edu/chancellor/creating/calendar.htm.
