Newest residence hall to be named for former Residence Life directorTom Haevers Hall, the last of three new residence halls to open in successive years at UW-Green Bay, will be formally dedicated in ceremonies Wednesday, Sept. 8. A Green Bay native, Haevers became director of housing in 1980. By the time he retired in 2001, the University's housing "village" had developed into a park-like setting with 24 buildings and room to accommodate 1,550 students. "Somehow I'm getting this honor, but many other people have to fit into the equation," Haevers says. "Those buildings are a tribute to the foresight of a lot of people." University Village Housing, Inc. proposed the tribute to Haevers. For more, see http://www.uwgb.edu/univcomm/news/archive/2004aug.htm#haevers.

Conveniently located near the Cream Puff Pavilion!Friday (Aug. 6) is UW Day at the Wisconsin State Fair. The Fair is always good ol' American fun. Throw in a college fair, a science-demonstration area, a meet-the-mascots booth all, as the news release says, "conveniently located on the Central Mall near the Cream Puff Pavilion and the Budweiser stage" and you've got a rousing good time. UWM dean is also city's planning directorHere's an interesting item from Milwaukee: A city council committee has endorsed a unique arrangement that will result in UW-Milwaukee's Bob Greenstreet splitting his time between being dean of the School of Architecture and Urban Planning and serving as the city's planning director.
