Bennett, whose UWGB team pulled off the college hoops upset of the year in 1994 (see lead-in) was denied a similar honor for 2004 when No. 1 ranked and undefeated Stanford needed a wild three-pointer at the buzzer to keep its perfect season alive, 63-61.

Broder column rings true for UW-Green BayThe LOG seldom links to national political commentary, but we'll make an exception here. The renowned David Broder handed out his presidential primary "Oscars" in a recent column. It's kind of neat, in reading Broder's observations, to remember that he spent an afternoon on campus last month covering the campaign. His critique of John Edwards' effective stump speech, and best-supporting-actor award to Ted Kennedy, "who almost raised the roof when he introduced (Sen. John) Kerry at rallies," may ring true for UW-Green Bay readers. For the rest of the column, (free registration required) see http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A28728-2004Mar3.html.
