Class of 675 students to graduate

About 675 UW-Green Bay students are eligible to participate in commencement ceremonies Saturday (May 15). That includes 70 who will not actually complete their degree requirements until August, and 32 who will receive master's degrees. Unless it rains, commencement will be held in the outdoor amphitheater north of the main entrance drive on the campus. Chancellor Bruce Shepard will preside over commencement.

First chancellor is commencement speaker

One of UW-Green Bay's most familiar faces, founding Chancellor Edward Weidner, returns to campus Saturday to deliver the commencement address. As UW-Green Bay's first chancellor — and first employee — Weidner was instrumental in defining the mission, academic plan and campus of the new and innovative institution. He officially retired from the University in 1989. Read more about Weidner's background and service to UW-Green Bay at http://www.uwgb.edu/univcomm/news/archive/2004may.htm#speaker.

Two ceremonies planned in case of rain

If the weather does not allow for the traditional outdoor commencement ceremony, UW-Green Bay will hold two ceremonies — one at 11:30 a.m. and one at 3 p.m. — in the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts. Half of the graduates would receive their diplomas at each ceremony. A decision to move to the Weidner Center would be made early Saturday morning. If the ceremony is to be held in the Weidner Center, announcements will be broadcast on local radio stations and posted on the UW-Green Bay Web site at www.uwgb.edu/commencement/. The number to call for information is (920) 465-2000.
