Brain drain: Kettl leaves for PennUW-Madison political scientist Don Kettl, a familiar face on the state scene and regular guest on state public television, is leaving for a job with the University of Pennsylvania. Kettl had earned plenty of admirers for his reasoned, nonpartisan approach and service as chairman of task forces on state and local funding and campaign finance reform. See the third item down at http://www.jsonline.com/news/metro/may04/232421.asp.
Update on UW System presidency: Thompson, and application deadlineThe Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel continues to highlight the "Thompson for President" story. Today's update is that sources close to the search-and-screen process note that nominations and applications have long since closed for the position of UW System president, and the former Wisconsin governor's name wasn't submitted. It's interesting reading, anyway, at http://www.jsonline.com/news/state/may04/232399.asp.
