The new phone books are here!

The new 2004-05 campus phone directories have been delivered. They are available for pick-up in the Marketing/Communications Office, but please remember that the phone books are distributed only to offices and units, and not singly, to individuals. (It is done that way to better account for the limited supply.) To receive your allotment, have your designated phone-books-picker-upper report to CL 815, any weekday, between 7:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Reminder from deans: Grant waivers to international and exchange students

UW-Green Bay values cross-cultural learning and strives to offer opportunities to learn about other cultures. One of the many ways in which this is done is the admission of international degree-seeking students, and international and national exchange students. These students bring a rich cultural dimension to our classrooms and academic community. However, because of their late arrival on campus, their registration is completed just prior to the start of the semester, when most of our courses have been long closed. Therefore, this is a reminder of a long-standing practice, supported by the Academic Deans, to accommodate late registration for degree-seeking international and all exchange students in their first semester of attendance, by granting waivers to courses that although closed, still have chair space available. This practice is consistent with that extended to our own students who study abroad and who are granted access to any course of their choosing. Please support our efforts to help ease the cultural and educational transition of our new international and exchange students who enrich our community. Please make them feel welcome to UW-Green Bay. If you have questions or concerns about our efforts to accommodate international/exchange students, please contact your Academic Dean.

Jan. 1 go-live plans for Lawson HRIS are dead... but delay will be short

The UW System APBS Implementation Steering Committee has officially announced that the January 1, 2005 Go-Live date for the Lawson HRIS System is being postponed. "We are confident that the nine weeks of system testing has confirmed that the Lawson HRIS system meets the business needs of the UW System and is operating soundly" was the report from the UW System Lawson Project Team. The revised go-live date is planned for spring of 2005. A more precise date will be announced as work progresses over the balance of the calendar year. UW-Green Bay's campus Lawson Project Team still has its running shoes on, and offers the message: "We will proceed as planned and will use the extra few months to better prepare the campus for the imminent changes."
