Green Bay Kiddie Carnival wants your help

Next week's Green Bay Park & Rec "Kiddie Carnival" is looking for donations as prizes. This would be a good time to get rid of all the paper, folders, pens, pencils and any other supplies that have been hanging out in your home or personal office for the past decade. Logos on items such as pens, pencils, hats, t-shirts are fine as long as it's appropriate for kids. The "parkies" will assemble items together as prize packages. All you have to do, on this campus, is deliver any items to CL750 by noon on Monday, Aug. 15.

'Hometown Releases' get publicity for youngest students

Every summer UW-Green Bay hosts camps with themes from music to space exploration. After each camp, the University communications office sends out "hometown releases" with all the campers' names to newspapers around the state. Scott Hildebrand, who handles the press releases, said, "Our camps provide excellent opportunities for youngsters in a wide range of areas -- from music and art to foreign language and even space exploration. The camps also give good exposure for UW-Green Bay. The news releases, which go to the hometown newspapers of our campers, are good public relations for the University and camps. They provide campers and their parents with one more memory of the camp experience."
You can find an example of the release at: http://www.uwgb.edu/univcomm/news/archive/2005aug.htm.
