UW System budget discussion held over until TuesdayIt took so long to hammer out agreement on $24 million in cuts for the W-2 program that the Legislature's budget-writing Joint Finance Committee had no time left Thursday night to consider the proposed UW System budget for 2005-07. The committee will take up UW System funding on Tuesday (May 24) in Madison.

Softball in Madison, basketball in BelgiumShould be a great night for softball in Madison tonight (Friday, May 20) when underdog UW-Green Bay plays highly ranked Oregon State at 7:30 p.m. in the opening game of the NCAA Division I women's softball tournament. Win or lose, the Phoenix will play again Saturday in the double-elimination tourney. The Phoenix women's basketball team continues its European exhibition tour this weekend. They beat a Belgian club team yesterday to make it 2-1 on the tour, and have today off before playing the St. Amand Basketball Club of France on Saturday.
