Franz is choice as UW-Green Bay controller
Tom Maki, vice chancellor for business and finance, has announced the selection of Kelly Franz to be UW-Green Bay controller, effective Feb. 1. Franz will succeed Chuck Wiseman, who is retiring at the end of January. The appointment caps a search process that included open campus interviews for Franz and two off-campus finalists. Franz has been with UW-Green Bay since 1991, first as director of auxiliary services - where he provided administrative leadership to the Phoenix Bookstore and Shorewood Golf Course and fiscal supervision to all auxiliaries - and, since 1999, as associate controller. His responsibilities there included direct supervision of the Bursar's Office, accounts receivable, grants accounting, general ledger accounting, bookstore, and accounting for University Village Housing, Inc. In his new position, Franz will oversee the Controller's Office and take a leadership role in monitoring revenue collections and expenditures within an institutional budget exceeding $70 million annually, ensuring the accuracy of campuswide accounting records, and interpreting systemwide financial policies. Franz worked eight years as an internal auditor with UW System Administration following his graduation from UW-Eau Claire. He holds a master's of business administration from UW-Oshkosh.
