Funeral arrangements pending for Hansen grandchild
UW-Green Bay officials report receiving phone calls from concerned faculty, staff and alumni seeking information or offering to share condolences following this morning's tragedy involving the granddaughter of state Sen. Dave Hansen. The 2-year-old girl, Elliana Zaidel, was killed in an automobile mishap at the Hansen's West Side home. Sen. Hansen is a 1971 graduate of UW-Green Bay and a strong supporter of the institution; he and his wife, Jane, are familiar faces at University events and activities. A statement issued by his office indicates that, at least for today, "the family requests understanding and respect for their privacy at this time of deep loss and family tragedy and asks people to keep them in their prayers." Members of the campus community are advised to consult their newspapers this weekend for possible details on arrangements, or to watch for more in Monday's LOG.
