Announcing... two chances (2!) for research funding
The UW-Green Bay Research Council is pleased to announce two separate Spring 2007 funding opportunities! Grants in Aid of Research applications, requesting up to $600 in support per award, are due March 22; Grants for Integrating Research and Teaching applications, offering as much as $1,500 of support per award, are due April 18. Multiple awards are made in both categories, though the total funding available for both programs is limited. Guidelines and the required forms are accessible from the Research Council website, http://www.uwgb.edu/rc. Questions and inquiries related to these funding opportunities may be directed to any member of the Research Council, or to the Institute for Research.

Campus hosts 'Regional Concours oral francais' this weekend
Parlez-vous français? You had better, if you plan to be at UW-Green Bay this Saturday (March 3). The "Regional Concours oral francais" - or regional French forensics competition - will involve about 130 French-language students from a dozen or so area schools, all competing to go on to the state competition (and qualify for the national level). Prof. E. Nicole Meyer, coordinator of the French program at UW-Green Bay, has details if you're interested.

Arabic, French join German, Spanish at the table
A few weeks back, we shared info on the "Conversation Tables" that are open and free to people of all language abilities (the only prerequisite a desire to practice your skills while conversing with others). We didn't have the whole schedule, then. With Arabic and French now accounted for, we do now:
• La table française (French Table): Wednesdays 4 to 5 p.m.
• Stammtisch (German Table): Tuesdays 8 to 10 p.m.
• Mesas de Conversación (Spanish Table):
Mondays and Tuesdays 12 to 1 p.m. - Jose Miguel (Spain)
      Tuesdays and Thursdays 5 to 6 p.m. - Paul Alulem(Ecuador)
• _____ ___-___ (Arabic Table) - Mondays and Wednesdays, 4 to 5:30 p.m.
* All conversation tables take place at the Common Grounds coffeehouse in the Union.

With 20 straight, Phoenix climbs to No. 20 in coaches' poll
On Monday, we shared news of UW-Green Bay's climb to No. 21 in the AP sportswriters' poll. A day later, the second major weekly poll was released, and the Phoenix climbed three spots in that one, as well, to No. 20 in the USA Today coaches' poll.
