HLC team recommends 10-year accreditation, requests Growth Agenda report
The six-member site review team of the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools concluded its visit to UW-Green Bay today. The review team informed University leaders in an exit conference this morning that it will recommend a full 10-year continuing accreditation of UW-Green Bay. The team also said it will ask for a progress report on implementation of Northeastern Wisconsin's Growth Agenda with attention to protecting the quality of instruction and student learning.

Shepard thanks review team, campus community for quality work
The site review team has been in Green Bay since Monday, meeting with faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members. UW-Green Bay Chancellor Bruce Shepard thanked the review team as well as members of the campus community who contributed to the institutional self-study report prepared for the Higher Learning Commission evaluation and visit. The chancellor said he is especially appreciative of the efforts of Associate Provost Tim Sewall, who served as self-study coordinator, and Virginia Dell, who assisted Sewall in preparing the self-study report. The report is online at http://www.uwgb.edu/hlcselfstudy2007/. Chancellor Shepard also thanked members of the steering committee that led the self-study and the seven working groups that contributed to the report.

Shepard: Review team understands Growth Agenda challenges
The greatest value of the accreditation process is in the campus community's efforts to learn more about the University and in the self-study report's recommendations that will help guide UW-Green Bay's future, Chancellor Shepard said. He said the request for a progress report on the Growth Agenda affirms a message the University has been sharing with the community and state leaders all along: UW-Green Bay cannot grow without additional resources.

Student, alumni, community support for UW-Green Bay draws praise
The chancellor said the site review team was particularly impressed with the quality of teaching and scholarship taking place at UW-Green Bay. Review team members also cited student enthusiasm for their experience at UW-Green Bay and the strong community and alumni support of the University.

What's next: It ain't over 'til it's over
The site review team will prepare a draft report on its evaluation of UW-Green Bay within the next six weeks. The University will have an opportunity to respond to the draft in writing and to correct any factual errors. The Higher Learning Commission is expected to take final action on the report in early 2008.
