University to honor Kiefer with 'Honorary Alumna' status
Irene Kiefer, a former administrator and staff member who contributed to the growth of community and alumni relations over a 30-year UW-Green Bay career, will be recognized with "Honorary Alumna" honors at the Alumni Association's annual awards night on Saturday, April 19. Kiefer concluded her University service in 2000 as executive director of the Office of Marketing and University Communication. Her achievements include a six-year period in the 1990s during which she assumed the additional title of executive director of alumni relations and oversaw an increase in the Alumni Association's membership base and expansion of services. She originated the Inside UW-Green Bay magazine and was instrumental in promoting the growth and development of the Founders Association, the private philanthropic organization. For more on Kiefer and the award, click http://www.uwgb.edu/univcomm/news/archive/2008/08-90.htm.

Kabacinski '71; Rachel (Neff) Greenley '98; and Amy B. Roznowski '01. The program is Saturday, April 19, in the Union's Phoenix Room with a reception at 5 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m. and the recognition program to follow. Tickets are $25 per person. Chris Salerno to 'star' in Washington State concert
Vocalist, pianist and UW-Green Bay Vocal Jazz Ensemble Director Chris Salerno will be the featured performer with the Washington State University VoJazz Vocal Ensemble and Big Band in a concert on Tuesday (April 15) on the campus in Pullman, Wash. Salerno, who founded the Brazilian and contemporary jazz group ZIJI and performs and records with notable jazz musicians, also directs the Lawrence University Jazz Singers. Students from UW-Green Bay and Lawrence won the top awards in the 2005 Downbeat Jazz Voice-University category. In the Washington State concert, Salerno is reconnecting with 1999 UW-Green Bay alumna Jennifer Scovell Parker, now a member of the Washington State faculty and director of its VoJazz Ensemble and its pop/show ensemble, Crimson Revue.
