Department of Revenue Secretary visits campus Thursday
Wisconsin Department of Revenue Secretary Roger Ervin will hold a news conference on the UW-Green Bay campus at 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon (April 10) to discuss the status of this year's income tax processing and provide updated statistics including electronic filing rates and average refunds. With April 15 just days away, Ervin is visiting the area to promote e-filing; he'll also tout the impact of UW-Green Bay's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program. About 20 students — mostly accounting or business majors — volunteer to assist mostly elderly or low-income filers at various sites around town. Prof. Marilyn Sagrillo is faculty adviser. With a roughly 35-year history, VITA is one of UW-Green Bay's longest-running service initiatives. Members of the campus community are welcome to greet the Secretary during his visit to IS 1034 and the general-access computing labs area.
