Fourth Estate's Favre fun goes far and wide
A UW-Green Bay retiree just emailed to say he saw the story Thursday on national cable news while traveling in Tennessee. The tale of yesterday's Fourth Mistake — our student newspaper's annual April Fools edition — and its "Brett Favre un-retires" cover, has been told far and wide.
Here's a local version, from TV-26: http://www.nbc26.com/news/local/17074231.html
A Minneapolis TV station picked up the item, at: http://www.kare11.com/news/ts_article.aspx?storyid=502685
Front page news: UW-Green Bay hosts Arabic Day on Tuesday
Today's Green Bay Press-Gazette gives prominent play to the fact Arabic language students here are becoming "ambassadors" to the surrounding community for Arabic Day, providing students and community members the opportunity to learn more about Middle Eastern and North African culture. See http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080328/GPG04/803280660&located=FLASH.
This weekend's movie: National Treasure, the sequel
The folks from the University Union remind us that his weekend brings another movie to the Christie Theater, National Treasure: Book of Secrets. Tickets are only $2 and showtimes are Thursday-Sunday. You can get fresh-popped popcorn, canned soda, or choose from a wide range of movie candy. For a listing of show times or more information visit http://www.uwgb.edu/union/cheapseats.
Online vote has St. Vincent Hospital near the lead
A number of folks we know on campus are supporting a community push regarding an online vote that would give one hospital nationally a fun center for the pediatric floor. The votes are really close and as of this morning St. Vincent Hospital of Green Bay is falling a bit behind. You can vote once a day; the voting concludes Monday. (Ignore the sponsor's advertising, and don't surf the site, it probably wouldn't be right, at least if you're at work.) Just click on Wisconsin and then click on St. Vincent Hospital: http://www.colgate.com/app/Colgate/US/Corp/CommunityPrograms/Starlight-Starbright-Childrens-Foundation.cvsp.
Half-marathon coming to campus Saturday
