Chancellor Bruce and Cyndie Shepard pose in full make-up and costume inside the ornate, renovated Meyer Theatre in downtown Green Bay. The Shepards played the roles of party hosts Dr.and Mrs. Stahlbaum in the Green Bay community production of "The Nutcracker" staged Dec. 8 and 9. Cyndie Shepard is an officer of the Northeastern Wisconsin Dance Organization, the non-profit group that organized the area's first full production of the ballet in many years. An accomplished dancer with extensive stage and teaching credits, she persuaded her husband to accept his first-ever dance role. Reviews and audience response were excellent.

Prof. Jeff Entwistle of the UW-Green Bay theatre program worked the control board for the community "Nutcracker." Entwistle's lighting and scenic design gave the production — which featured dozens of young ballet students from local studios in addition to a sprinkling of more experienced dancers — a first-class setting.

Production crew for the community's December 2006 version of "The Nutcracker" included UW-Green Bay students who took the ballet as a learning opportunity. Connecting learning to life were Andy Cimpl, Donna Larsen and Erin Torkelson. The students pose here under the stage lights with Prof. Entwistle and Clara's "dream ship."
