Service with a smile

Photo: Celebrating three decades of service to UW-Green Bay were Lynn Doudna, Frank Madzarevic, Kathy Pletcher, Steve Dutch, Lynn Walter and William Laatsch.

These faculty and staff reached milestones of 30-plus years in the UW System, and were recognized for it along with those celebrating milestones of 10 to 25 years at the annual service award celebration Dec. 15. From left to right, Lynn Doudna (Information Services), Frank Madzarevic (Athletics), Kathy Pletcher (Information Services), Steve Dutch (Natural and Applied Sciences), and Lynn Walter (Social Change and Development). Celebrating 40 years of service — a first at UW-Green Bay — was William Laatsch (Urban and Regional Studies), far right.

Laatsch's response was both funny and touching. Taking center stage, he said he still gets nervous for every lecture, and when he doesn't, "it's time to call it quits."

Laatsch said he stays for "the students," describing them as a bit unrefined at times, but wonderful.
