Students share research, creativity at
annual Academic Excellence Symposium
The spotlight was on the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s best and
brightest students Wednesday, April 11 at the 6th annual Academic Excellence
Symposium. The campus community filled the Winter Garden Lounge at Mary
Ann Cofrin Hall to see examples of the outstanding scholarly and creative
work being done across the campus. Presenters set up poster displays and
other types of exhibits to showcase their high-level work. The event was
sponsored by the office of the Dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the
Phi Kappa Phi honor society.
Jennifer White discusses her Human Development research project, “Mental
Illness and Perceptions of Dangerousness,” with Sue K. Hammersmith,
UW-Green Bay provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs.
Education student Heidi Garner explains “Inspiring Students to Create
the Future” to Lloyd Noppe, professor of Human Development.
Kristy Klopstein’s Information and Computing Science project, “Uncovering
the Effectiveness of Decision Downloading Styles,” has the attention
of Uwe Pott, associate professor of Human Biology.

Fifty-eight student projects were on display throughout the Winter Garden
Lounge. With multiple students involved in some projects, about 120 students
presented at the symposium.
