Kress Events Center celebration | page 2
The guy in the blue dress shirt, at ground level at lower right, looks familiar. A veteran climber from his younger days, UW-Green Bay's chancellor joins students in demonstrating the fitness center's new three-story, 360-degree climbing tower. Did he make it to the top? Keep scrolling to the final page of this gallery.
Bumping into each other on their behind-the-scenes tour of the Kress are, from left, Founders Association President Susan Frost '97, Max Frost, Jim Jauquet and UW System Regent Mary Cuene '88.
Having some fun, and checking out the view (which isn't half bad, incidentally), from the top rows of the 4,000-seat events center are Mike Meeuwsen and Jeff Beinlich. Both are donors to the project. Meeuwsen is a fundraising volunteer who is now heading up a seat campaign. He jokingly led his friend to the top row to show him "his seat," next to the one labeled "Bob Uecker."
Community supporters Diane Roundy and Roz Barker, attired in Green Bay green, flank Barb and Dave Skogen at the reception.
Sodexho Catering served dinner to more than 250 on the main floor of the Kress Events Center (covered to protect the hardwood underneath).
UW-Green Bay friends, alumni and project donors Ginny Riopelle and Rick Chernick share a conversation.
Donors to the project each took home a piece of the Kress Events Center at the end of the evening: a small piece of the home court. The maple mementos — remnants laser-engraved with the date and occasion — were passed out by students including, here, basketball players Erin Templin, Kayla Groh and Rachel Porath.
James Kress, retired head of Green Bay Packaging and his family's charitable endeavors, accepts his "piece of the Kress." Family members expressed appreciation for the evening's tributes and their delight with the finished project.
Donors recognized at the celebration dinner included two 1970s-era Phoenix men's basketball alumni and their families. Shown here are Tom and Laurie Anderson and Durell and Bob DeVos.
Dr. Jeremy Green and Kramer Rock compare notes over the hors'd'oeuvres table.
