It's official: ribbon cutting at the Kress
Special guests celebrate the occasion moments after the ribbon was ceremoniously cut to officially open the new Kress Events Center prior to the Phoenix women's basketball exhibition game on Nov. 3. That's Chancellor Bruce Shepard (with oversized scissors) greeting leadership donor Carol Bush (the home floor is named "Carol's Court"). Others visible, from left, include Bob Bush, fundraising co-chairs Tom Olson and Ginny Riopelle, AD Ken Bothof, Mike Meeuwsen and Rep. Phil Montgomery.
Chancellor Shepard, shown here greeting student Abby Bergsma, called forward individuals representing UW-Green Bay students, private donors and the local legislative delegation to take part in Saturday's ceremonies.

Participants lined up at halfcourt before a crowd of approximately 3,000.
Snip! Helping Chancellor Bruce Shepard do the honors were individuals chosen to represent the unique three-way funding partnership that made the $33 million center reality. From left are Carol Bush, Sen. Dave Hansen, students Brad Zuleger and Joel Diny, Shepard, and former Assembly Speaker John Gard. Bush and her husband were among the lead private donors. Hansen was a continuing advocate for state funding. Zuleger is chair of the student fee allocation board, and Diny is a member of the Student Government Association Executive Board. Gard was influential in ensuring state support at the project's outset.
